Client: Kate Downie RSA / Forth Estuary Transport Authority
July 2014

An Artist Celebrating 50 Years of the Forth Road Bridge.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Forth Road Bridge in September 2014, renowned Scottish landscape artist Kate Downie RSA was appointed as artist-in-residence by the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA).

As well as producing an official commemorative print, Kate’s commission included the production of a series of artworks in different media, which interpret the structure from a variety of perspectives.

The project included a four-week residency at the bridge during which local schools and groups were invited to Kate’s shed studio.

The exhibition held at Hopetoun House was part of the official programme for the Forth Bridges Festival 2014.
