Working with artist Fiona Watson, whose infamous teacake prints inspired this project, we organised an exhibition celebrating a genuine Scottish icon – Tunnocks
We invited a range of artists honour the humble teacake, the caramel wafer and the snowball in their own creative ways and we were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response and the variety of artwork.
Scotty dogs collaged from wrappers, wafers hanging on a washing line and teacake nipple tassels were among the artworks which sold like hot cakes on the opening night.
The exhibition coincided with Tunnock’s 120th anniversary. The family owned company were more than happy to support the exhibition and sent and almost endless supply of sweet treats for visitors and staff to enjoy.
The Tunnocks were so impressed by the art on show they purchased several works which now adorn the walls of Tunnocks HQ in Uddingston.
